8 Weeks of Giving: Surprising Co-Workers With Home-Baked Goods

Welcome back to our 8 Weeks of Giving series, where we’re doing our part to spread positivity and kindness through simple acts of giving.

Over the holidays and during COVID, many people struggle (often silently) with mental health. With social distancing and many group activities still being limited, it’s so important to find ways to care for one another. It’s our hope that through this series, we can uplift others – and ourselves – and remind people that they’re cared about.

This week’s activity was especially fun (and delicious) for all of us in the office…

Ellen, our Communications Specialist, brightened up all of our days with some of her delicious home-baked goods. Here’s what Ellen has to share:

What’s the best way to cheer someone up? With a baked good, of course! In this instance, a homemade cheesecake topped with cherries did the trick.

As the days get shorter and the weather gets cooler, we have to look out for those we choose to spend our time with. After a full morning of meetings, I presented the team with a surprise cheesecake for us to nibble on. Taking a quick break to openly chat and enjoy a slice is just what we needed to reset for the rest of the day. For me, seeing someone enjoy something special I made for them fills my heart with joy and brings a smile to my face. I love how sharing yummy desserts brings us together as a team.

We’re lucky to have a baker in the office with us! 🙂

Finding a treat that people in the office can enjoy is a classic way to bring some cheer to your co-workers. (And for those who like the gluten free, dairy free, or healthier options, there are so many creative alternatives available, too.)

How will you show someone you care this week – perhaps your co-workers?

Leave a comment below to share how you’re inspired to spread more positivity and kindness in the world, starting with those around you!

‘Til next time,
Sandy
