Support local small businesses by shopping! [8 Weeks of Thanks]

Welcome back to our “8 Weeks of Thanks” celebration! Every week until the end of the year, we’re highlighting a different way to give thanks to our communities, businesses, or loved ones. It’s a way to end the year on a high note and create a ripple effect of positivity throughout our communities!

Last week, we highlighted a very simple way to show appreciation: sending a hand-written note to someone in your life, whether that’s a friend, family member, colleague, or customer. This simple but thoughtful act can deepen a relationship and brighten someone’s day.

This week, we’re approaching Small Business Saturday on November 28th. So we’re highlighting a very powerful way to give back to your community: Shopping!

Ellen, our Communications Specialist, put this in action and did some Christmas shopping early at Potters’ Guild of Frederick:

Supporting small businesses is crucial, especially this year. I decided to get a head start on my holiday shopping so I could beat the crowds and shop safely. The Potters’ Guild of Frederick had an amazing selection of ceramic products created by local artisans, and to add a personal touch, they provide you with information on the artist whose ceramic art you purchase!

Many small businesses rely on the uptick in sales during the holiday season, especially this year. Whether you’re getting a gift for family, friends, or yourself, shopping at local businesses is truly a powerful way to support your community.

You can also make an impact with your dollars by participating in the upcoming SOUL Street virtual Black Friday event. SOUL Street is a Frederick-based farmers market that features all Black-owned businesses. This virtual event is a great way to support Black-owned small businesses and the Black community. Find out more about the event here.

We’d love to hear what local businesses you’ll be supporting for Small Business Saturday. Leave a comment down below to share!

‘Til next time,
Sandy
