Celebrating 2021: Our PPR Strategies Annual Report

Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed some time off between seasons before launching into the second half of the fiscal year ahead.

Before diving into our goals for the New Year, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on some of our highlights and wins in 2021… Enjoy PPR Strategies’s 2021 Annual Report!

PPR Strategies Highlights
and Celebrations in 2021

  • We created and launched Season 1 (13 episodes) of the Frederick Factor podcast!
  • Helped create and conduct the Frederick County OED EmPOWER Mentoring program – 8-week group mentoring program.

  • Our longtime freelance copywriter, Meghan McQuade Boyle, joined our staff as a full-time team member!

  • Rebranded our name, PPR Strategies, as PPR Strategies: Places Reimagined

  • Hired 6 Interns from Shepherd University, Catholic University, Towson University, McDaniel College, Howard University.

  • Hosted 7 virtual conferences and events for clients.

  • Worked with 35 clients in states and territories such as Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Texas, and the US Virgin Islands.

  • Impacted thousands of local businesses and lives through our clients.

  • Spent 388,000 total minutes on Zoom.

Personal Highlights From the Team

Top Personal Wins

  • Sandy: Speaking at the Apple Processors Association and IEDC Annual Conference in Nashville Tennessee… and buying a house!

  • Sophie: Getting a kitty cat named Francis.

  • Ellen: Starting Leadership Frederick County, completing a few hiking trips, and moving into my first apartment!
  • Meg: Moving back across the Atlantic, buying a new home, and starting a new career adventure!

Favorite Volunteer Activity:

  • Sandy: Chairing a fundraiser for Scouting BSA to honor Sue Hough

  • Sophie: Being a Blood Donor Ambassador with the Red Cross this year.

  • Ellen: Participating in the Downtown Frederick Partnership’s Bring a Broom Day

  • Meg: Selecting special gifts alongside my son for the Salvation Army Angel Tree

Favorite Travel Experiences:

  • Sandy: Completing the Virginia State Park Trail Quest Program

  • Sophie: Visiting family in Arizona and California

  • Ellen: Visiting Edisto Lake in South Carolina

  • Meg: Lounging with loved ones on Lake Michigan

Favorite In-Person Dining:

  • Sandy: Anywhere! I was just happy to be able to eat in restaurants again.

  • Sophie: I went to my first Michelin star restaurant, Rooster & Owl in DC, on my birthday this year! It was a dream come true, and a lifelong bucket list item!

  • Ellen: Discovering a cute coffee shop (with an all gluten-free menu!) less than a mile from my apartment

  • Meg: Sharing tea and giggles with my best friend at London’s Fortnum & Mason

Favorite Office Prank:

  • Sandy: All of the office birthdays – We always have fun surprising people.

  • Sophie: Surprising Sue (from Octavo, who we share the office space with) with TWO birthday celebrations!

  • Ellen: The “Mean Girls” themed birthday for Cory (another Octavo team member).

  • Meg: showing up to a Zoom meeting wearing Mickey Mouse ears!


What a year! We look forward to the highlights and celebrations to come in 2022 with our clients, colleagues, and team, as well as in our local businesses and communities.
