We’re kicking off 8 Weeks of Giving!

If you’ve been on the PPR Strategies newsletter list for a while, you might remember the 8 Weeks of Giving series we did around this time last year. After a very challenging 2020, our intention was to spread more positivity and kindness in the world during a time that was so stressful and full of unknown.

Each week, a PPR Strategies team member took on a way to give, and we invited you to join us – as inspired! Our activities included going shopping at a local business, leaving a positive review for a restaurant on social media, and writing a notecard to a friend.

This year, we’re inspired to do 8 Weeks of Giving again – and we’re dedicating our series to activities that can support mental health. During COVID and during the holidays, mental health struggles can be a challenge for so many. It’s our hope that we can do our part to lift others (and ourselves!) with simple acts of kindness.

One way to spread positivity, which we all have at our disposal, is through social media platforms! Our copywriter extraordinaire, Meghan McQuade Boyle, kicked off our 8 Weeks of Giving with this uplifting “Mindful Mondays” post –

Here’s what Meghan shares:

We wear many hats as employees, colleagues, caregivers, parents, and friends. Multitasking is second nature, but in most cases, self care is not. So on a typically busy Monday, I want to encourage people to choose peace over progress…even if it’s just for a few minutes. A zen-inducing playlist, quick tips for inspiration, and taking five minutes out for guided breathing can make a huge difference in the way we feel, and the way we make others feel in our orbit. Sharing a calming playlist or a handy breathing exercise with a colleague encourages them to engage in small but meaningful rituals of self care, too.

Here are some resources Meg shares to bring more self-care into your workday:

PPR Strategies is raising money for the Mental Health Association of Frederick County by walking an 8K this weekend! MHA is an incredible organization. Its mission is to build a strong foundation of emotional wellness for our whole community by preparing resilient children, securing vulnerable families, and standing with people to face crises together.

We promised that our team would wear wacky outfits on our walk if we met our goal of raising $100… and we’ve already exceeded that goal! But based on all the support we have received so far, we are moving the goal-post to $300 and will be honoring our commitment to wearing wacky outfits. (Yes, there will be pictures.) A heartfelt ‘thank you’ to everyone who has already donated – your contributions will be SO appreciated by the MHA. Would you like to join in supporting this great cause? See you next week as 8 Weeks of Giving continues!

‘Til next time,
Sandy
