Sandy is the CEO/Founder of Platinum PR. She is a marketing consultant, spokesperson, publicity expert, public speaker and public relations team leader. In each of these roles, Sandy guides her clients to reach their goals. Platinum PR serves as the marketing/communications department for businesses and organizations that do not have these talents internally. We are the communications department for the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA), and American Mothers, Inc. and Sandy serves as the Communications Director for these organizations. Platinum PR also works with several local, regional and national organizations that include the Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA); Pickin’ in the Panhandle; Blue Ridge Community & Technical College and the West Virginia Book Faire. Sandy spent more than ten years in the field of economic development. She started her career in Jefferson County, WV, with the Jefferson County Economic Development Authority, where her focus was research and community relations. Most recently, she had a lead role in the Frederick County Office of Economic Development in Frederick, MD. She worked extensively in business development with a focus on marketing, including trade shows, direct mail campaigns, web site development and maintenance and collateral development. Sandy received a Bachelor of Science in economics and business administration from Shepherd University. She is involved in the local community as a member of both the Berkeley County and Jefferson County Chambers of Commerce. She also serves as volunteer with the United Way of the Eastern Panhandle. She is a Past-President of the American Advertising Federation – Greater Frederick; serves on the board of directors for the Scarborough Society of Shepherd University, Shepherd University Alumni Association and the Maryland Economic Development Association. Sandy was recently recognized as a “Young Gun” by West Virginia Executive Magazine for her entrepreneurial successes and community service activities.
JaneMarie’s PR career spans both the private and public sector. With experience in public education for 17 years, she served as the Director of Program Development for a nationwide, non-profit organization in Alexandria, VA. Working with high schools and community colleges, JaneMarie developed insurance programs that taught students how the independent agency system operated. As Director of Communications for a public school system with more than 18,000 students and 30 schools, JaneMarie worked to pass a $96 million school bond during the September 2009 recession in addition to excess levies in 2006 and 2010. Both positions exposed her to building relationships with local and national media, developing strategic marketing campaigns, website development and management and grant writing. JaneMarie began her career in PR in London, England after graduating from college. Among her credentials are a Masters of Business Administration; membership in the National School Public Relations Association and awards from the Chesapeake School Public Relations Association. She was also a finalist for the Panasonic National School Change awards and has received a West Virginia School of Excellence honor. She now continues her PR experience in these areas with Platinum PR.
Meghan McQuade Boyle received her first typewriter at age ten, and has spent her career creating a return on her parents’ investment. As talented a copywriter as she is a speechwriter, Meghan’s prose is versatile and engaging. On the heels of earning a bachelor’s degree in English with honors from the College of the Holy Cross, the Massachusetts native moved to Washington D.C., where she interned for the NewsHour With Jim Lehrer. Following her stint in broadcast journalism, Meghan set her sights on a career in the nonprofit world, where she honed her talents in public relations, marketing, and fundraising communications. Her fresh voice and concise writing style attract a diverse clientele in the nonprofit and private sectors, secondary and higher education. In her work with Platinum PR, Meghan glides seamlessly between strategy and creative execution.
Krista brings with her 18 years of experience working with the media. She has an extensive career working as a reporter for daily newspapers and monthly magazines throughout Maryland, including Frederick Magazine, Hagerstown Magazine, 270incmagazine, The Frederick News-Post, The Star Democrat and also WRC NBC Channel 4 in Washington, DC. She serves as news editor for a monthly newspaper in Urbana, Maryland. Krista is a graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in journalism. Krista specializes in business writing, press releases and media relations. She’s the recipient of an American Planning Association Professional Achievement in Journalism award, National Newspaper Association award and numerous Associated Press and Society of Professional Journalists awards. Krista has spent much of her career working with state and local governments and the business community and brings her writing experience, communications expertise and event planning to Platinum PR starting in 2011.
Adrienne has worked as a journalist since 2007, when she started at CBS Radio News in D.C. Since then, she has reported for a daily newspaper, The Frederick News-Post; written for several magazines, such as Frederick Gorilla and 270Inc.; and served as features editor for the Town Courier in Urbana and Ijamsville. She is a member of Journalism & Women’s Symposium, Society of Professional Journalists, and American Theater Critics Association. Her 2007 Hood College B.A. is in communications, specializing in journalism through radio, TV and newspaper writing, with a web development minor. She’s continued her professional development through several outlets, including a course with Merrill Perlman, a copy editor who spent 25 years at The New York Times, through The Poynter Institute. She also was a 2010 National Critic Institute fellow at The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. In the midst of her time at Hood, she attended St. Peter’s College at Oxford University and studied literature. While at San Antonio College, Adrienne earned her associate’s degree in liberal arts and traveled with a speech team (she graduated with honors, December 2004). She won many awards while on the team and ended her travels as the state champion in speech for informative, persuasive, communication analysis and prose pieces. She brings a love for writing and editing and looks forward to helping professionals find their voice through her work with Platinum PR clients.
Hailing from Pendleton County, West Virginia, Hanna is a former Platinum PR intern, turned part-time assistant, turned full-fledged employee. She has recently completed her Bachelor of Science degree in MassCommunication, with a concentration in New Media, and a minor in Print Journalism from Shepherd University, after conquering the woes of her Biology class.
With experience in public relations from her time as an intern, Hanna hopes to continue to help clients in reaching their goals alongside the rest of the Platinum PR team. Time spent writing for the Shepherd University student newspaper, The Picket, gave Hanna experience in writing for print publications, a skill that she brings with her to Platinum PR.
Hanna enjoys traveling, blogging and keeping up with the latest J.Crew fashion, as well as spending weekends on her family farm.
